Lonsdale, which was founded in 1960 by former boxer Bernard Hart, started off as a boxing equipment brand, but later branched out to casual wear. The company is named after Cecil Lowther, 5th Earl of Lonsdale, who introduced the use of gloves in organized boxing matches after the death of three bare-knuckle fighters.
The brand has proved to be popular among elite boxers, including legends such as Muhammad Ali, Henry Cooper and Sugar Ray Robinson as well as present-day fighters such as Ricky Hatton.
